It is built on the groundbreaking ZERO2 platform, but has been specifically designed to cater to the impact velocities commonly experienced by young athletes. This Virginia Tech 5-Star helmet also scored the highest among 31 helmets tested, with a score of 0.19 (the average for 5-Star youth helmets being 2.82 – a lower score indicates better performance).
In addition to its top rankings, the ZERO2 Youth is also 15% lighter than its predecessor, the ZERO1. It is constructed on the same revolutionary ZERO2 platform, but has been fine-tuned to address the impact forces typically encountered by youth athletes. The deformable outer shell of the helmet is able to absorb impact forces at the point of contact, ensuring that these forces are dissipated before reaching the athlete's head and reducing the risk of injury.
